This photo has nothing to do with anything in this post. It just looks pretty and serves to break up the text with that prettiness. I took it (not the swan—the photo) the other day when I did some listening practice at a nearby lake. I should write about that too.Yesterday (or rather, early this morning) I wrote that I'd had a pretty terrible day. Just one of those days where everything kind of goes wrong for you. Well, I took measures to, as they say, keep my chin up and made it out unscathed, as it were.
Today, after school got out, I decided to talk to the ATM to pull out some money (one of the things that inexplicably went wrong yesterday) and, on the way, found myself right in front of the building at which I used to teach English to a group of middle-aged ladies. And, what do you know, it was the very day and time that my replacement, a kind guy whom I call Pyro, would be wrapping up the week's class! So I decided to pay a visit.
I entered and managed to pop in front of the door just as they were wrapping up. I heard one of the students say my name (I'd actually just sent a text message to her phone before I left school, before I'd even
considered actually going, making my appearance all the more dramatic—as is my style, you see), so I popped into the room saying,
"'Jonasan-san' desu ka?" all silly-like, as I am wont to do on very rare occasion.
Check it out—it's a Shy Guy (saying "Pleased to meet you") that I doodled way back when. Pay it no mind. However, I will inform you that its Japanese name is heihō. There—don't say I never taught you anything. What? Oh, you so did not know that already! It was a very pleasant reunion for us and the students offered to take both me and Pyro to Denny's for tea, just like the old days. And go we did.
It was pretty enjoyable sitting here just chatting it up with them for a while. (There was a lot of Japanese which was extremely hard to pick up because there two conversations going on the same time, plus the fairly loud music. But I digress. As is my wont.
Yeah, I have quite a few wonts. Don't act all like you don't.) I think I saw an acquaintance of mine that works there head into the back at one point. Anywho, after a bit, most of the students left, leaving me with Pyro and a single student for a while. The conversation then turned to, of all things, global warming and the U.S. Presidential election, of all things—plus I was getting pretty tired by this point—so I was kind of in and out the conversation at times.
A-heh heh heh ...After that, I successfully pulled money out of the ATM and got some much needed grocery shopping done. Apparently, though, every Tom, Dick, and Harry in the area seems to have had the same bloody idea. I might never have seen Seiyu so full of people before tonight. Still though, the checkout progressed quickly enough. Well done,
Wal-Mart.
Then I got back and realized that I was out of rice. Which, basically,
still meant that I was out of food, since almost all of the food that I buy requires it. So back to Wal—er, Seiyu I went. (And as I cruised down the hill,
F-Zero music starting playing in my headphones. Heh. Talk about setting the mood.)
So anyway, I'm in a pretty decent mood at the moment. Which is nice.
(Well, yeah, duh. I mean, beware the person that would say, "I'm in a good mood. Man, this really sucks.")I still have to figure out what to do about my electives, as time is running out on changing them. I'm definitely dumping the haiku class, which I chose reluctantly from the get-go. I'm still torn on the music class, since it's likely to be an examination of the lyrics, which is nice and all but not what I think I'd like to do at the end of the school day. Oh wait! I can take business conversation, since my Wednesdays are now freer than I thought they would be. Well, that almost seals the deal. Ah, sorry—I've got some train-of-thought crap going here. And I'm quite behind on blog comments and e-mails as well.
Thus, I now depart!
