I brought my Nintendo GameCube with me from America but, due to space issues and a bit of short-sightedness, I only brought one game:
Super Smash Bros. Melee. Which, of course, is enough game for the whole dang system. (Still, I could go for spending some of this break playing
Super Mario Sunshine or
Metroid Prime again.)
Months ago, I had a surrogate
Melee partner to replace my One True Rival back in America, but he's since returned to America and I was left quite rival-less. Playing against the computer can only last so long before it gets boring, so eventually, once I'd tired of CPU matches, I packed up my dear GameCube and left it to wait for better days. (I can't even buy Japanese GameCube games because of the region-coding that Nintendo built into the 'Cube. Thanks, Nintendo!)
But last Friday, I finally had the opportunity to take out my GameCube again and I introduced my long-time buddy Neo to
Melee. However, as soon as we went to select a stage in training mode, the screen froze and the music starting skipping and ...

Yikes! First time I'd seen
that before. Fortunately, I was able to restart the machine and our session proceeded without incident, though.
As expected of The One, he picked it up quickly and, with a bit of a handicap, we had some pretty fun games. (It's
Melee, man—of
course it's fun.) Neo was quite fond of the game, as I'd hoped, and we plan to play again.
